Email FAQ

How do I serve ads in Second Street emails?

Select a pre-made template that has the banner ad option that fits your need or create a custom template with banner ads or static/editable HTML content blocks.

Heads Up! It is important to note that not all providers support the ability to serve ads within an email. If you choose to serve your ads via ad tags, please confirm with your provider that ad tags are supported in email.

If you choose to use one of our pre-made templates, you can serve banner ads in two ways:

  • Uploading the banner ad creative directly as an image and applying the click through link.
  • Using ad tags via an ad server. In this case, you would paste in the supplied ad tags for the creative and link to serve your ads programmatically.

Tip! Google DFP is not recommended for serving ads in newsletters. We do recommend Live Intent since other partners have used it successfully with our platform, but there are others like OpenX, AdZerk and AdGlare.

If you choose to create a custom template, you can serve banner ads in two ways:

  • Uploading the banner ad creative directly as an image and applying the click through link.
  • Insert a Static HTML Content Block where you can insert your ad tags when you create your template.
  • Insert an Editable HTML Content Block where you can insert your ad tags when you create your email.

Tip! Here is the difference between Static and Editable HTML Content Blocks. Static HTML content Blocks cannot be edited or turned off/on in the Email Designer when you build your actual email - it will be static content. Editable HTML Content Blocks allows you to actually edit the HTML within the Email Designer when setting up your email. This is ideal if you are using an ad tag for multiple organizations and need to customize it per org. This content block can also be turned off/on in the Email Designer when you build your actual email.
